How to budget for a website and compare quotes

Start with what the website needs to do. A page that introduces a business and a website connected to bookings or orders involve different work. O2 quotes each project individually, so this guide explains what to compare instead of giving a price that may not fit your business.

Compare the same work first

Two quotes are only comparable when they describe the same customer journey. Write down who visits, what they need to understand and what happens after they contact you. A restaurant might need a menu and directions; another might also need a booking request that staff can review. Name each function before discussing the total.

  • List the pages and languages included.
  • Separate information pages from booking, ordering or store functions.
  • Name what is included after launch.

What changes the scope

Content matters as much as page count. Confirm who writes the text, supplies photographs and checks the Thai and English. Moving an existing website also means deciding which content and addresses to retain. If a form connects to another system, describe where its information goes and who receives it. These decisions make a quote specific enough to assess.

Include the cost of keeping it useful

Ask for the initial work and ongoing arrangements to be explained separately. Include the domain, hosting arrangements, content updates and any outside provider fees. At O2, third-party charges are confirmed in the proposal. Small changes are included under the agreed arrangements; larger changes are discussed and quoted first. A website that needs frequent menu or service changes needs a different update plan from one that rarely changes.

Check ownership and the search work

Ask whose name is on the domain and accounts, what you can take away and what happens if the arrangement ends. At O2 the accounts stay in the client's name, and O2 keeps its own reusable code and licenses it for the client's website; the published terms explain ownership, content return and what happens if payments stop. For SEO, ask what work is included and how it will be checked. Google warns that no provider can guarantee a number-one ranking.

Prepare a brief that can be quoted

Send your current website, a short page list, required languages, the customer action you want and the tools already in use. Add who will prepare the content and how often it changes. Mark each function as essential now or possible later. O2's first conversation is free; use it to establish a written scope and read the full payment and ownership terms before agreeing.
